Vernon Wiley Dillard, 93, of Portland, TN, passed away November 7, 2019 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. He was born May 29, 1926 to the late Clayborn Dillard and Bessie Edens.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Velma Mae Dillard; daughters, Linda (James) Latimer of Portland; Gloria (Paul) Harbsmeier of Gallatin; grandchildren, Tresa (Jim) Cummings, Cindy (Scott) Cook, Tyler Patton, and Daniel (Jordan) Harbsmeier; great-grandchildren, Brandon (Kim) Perry, Adam Cummings, Zack Cook, and Ashley Cummings; great-great-grandchild, Kinsley Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Thurman Dillard, Russell Dillard, and Roy Buddy Dillard; and sister, Katherine Barker.
Funeral service will be Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Taylor officiating, visitation will be Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday November 10, 2019 from noon until funeral time at 2 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Patton, Daniel Harbsmeier, Brandon Perry, Adam Cummings, Zack Cook, Jim Cummings and Scott Cook.
Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Dillard was a member of Portland Nazarene Church; he retired from General Electric and was the owner of Dillard Trenching for over 40 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Portland Church of the Nazarene in honor of Vernon Dillard.
