Mr. Jacob Robert DiNovo, age 25 of Portland, TN died Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at his home in Portland, TN.
Mr. DiNovo was born November 12, 1993 in Nashville, TN the son of Robert James and Patti Jo DiNovo. He attended Portland High School and graduated in 2012 where he was known for his school spirit and love for sports. He was a passionate UT Vols and Atlanta Braves fan. Jake’s infectious personality and smile could light up a room. He was the most loyal, dependable friend that anyone could ask for.
From the age of five, Jake could be found with a baseball and glove in his hand. His passion for baseball carried through his high school career. His devotion to Portland Spikes as a player, coach and umpire benefited the lives of countless people.
Jake is survived by his parents, Robert James and Patti Jo DiNovo of Portland, TN; brother, Josh Key (Kim) of Greenbrier, TN; nieces, Madison and Brianna; nephew, Jaxson; grandparents, Juanita (Billy) Lee of Columbia, TN and Ellie Masterson of Ft. Wayne, IN.; aunts and uncles, Cindy White (David), Kam Hinton (Phillip), Theresa Hagan and Rick DiNovo; and cousins, Daniel White (Sabrina, Gavin, Daughtry), Dustin Hinton, Lacy Kuchar (Thomas, Tyler, Mila), Linda Threadgill (Alan, Ellie), and Kevin Hagan.
Jake was preceded in death by his grandparents: Frank and Katherine Mason, Charles and Marcela Meyers, Salvator and Lenna DiNovo, Prince Barrett, August DiNovo, and Terry Masterson, and cousin Wendy White Lame.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2019 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland, TN with Bro David Andrews officiating. Burial followed at Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at Gilbert Funeral Home. The family has requested in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Portland Spikes Baseball Program.
