Two people were found dead in a Butler Road home last week, with a third victim transported by Sumner EMS.

On Tuesday, Feb. 9, the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence at 744 Butler Road, just outside of the Portland city limits, after a probation officer who was making a home visit observed an obvious medical emergency.

Upon arrival, deputies found three people in the house, Nicholas Crowder, 15 months old, his mother - Tiffany Spears, 32, and an unnamed 3-year-old.

According to Major Tim Bailey with the sheriff’s office, two of the three victims were deceased and the 3-year-old was transported to a local hospital.

This incident remains under investigation. Preliminary results from the medical examiner's office did not reveal any apparent cause of death for either victim and officials are awaiting further testing which may take several weeks.

Bailey said detectives did locate evidence which may indicate that drugs could be a contributing factor.

The Sumner County Sheriff's Office is attempting to accumulate information in order to create a timeline of events in order to determine when the last known contact was made with Ms. Spears. If anyone has information regarding this incident please contact Det. Lance Hampton at 615-442-1849.

The condition of the third victim had not been released as of Friday.
