An Ellis Middle School teacher has been suspended without pay after being charged on Monday for having sexual contact with a 17-year-old male.
Caleb Bullock, 26 of Hendersonville, was charged Aug. 3 with five counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, according to an arrest affidavit filed in Sumner County General Sessions Court.
Bullock teaches English at the middle school, Sumner County Schools Spokesperson Jeremy Johnson confirmed on Tuesday.
Johnson said that Bullock was beginning his fifth year with the school district. Sumner County students returned to school this week.
It was reported to the Gallatin Police Department on July 30 that Bullock sexually assaulted a 17-year-old victim five separate times between 2019 and 2020, the affidavit states. The victim told police he was touched in a sexual manner at a home in Gallatin.
Bullock, who taught youth classes, singing and devotional activities at a church while the victim was growing up, engaged in a pattern of behavior where he repeatedly called, texted and visited the victim’s home, according to the affidavit.
Bullock has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal investigation, according to Johnson.
