County begins hiring process for new ECC director

The county has begun the process of hiring a new director for the Sumner County Emergency Communication Center in Gallatin.

The center has been operating under an interim director since the resignation of Marilyn Mills-Anderson on Dec. 15. Mills-Anderson joined the center as director in September 2019.

Assistant director Christie Davis was appointed interim director. She joined the center in August of 2021. She is from Tuscaloosa, Ala. According to Davis, she has applied for the position of director.

The county ended the application process on Feb. 15, with eight candidates submitting resumes. The salary was advertised as based on experience and with a minimum of $100k annually. The director is responsible for the administration and management of the consolidated emergency communication center.

The executive committee will make the make the final decision on a new director. That committee is composed of the county mayor, city mayors from Gallatin, Hendersonville, Portland, Westmoreland, and the city manager of Millersville. No date has been set for a decision.

The center serves emergency calls for Sumner County, Hendersonville, Gallatin, Portland, Westmoreland and Millersville. Rhonda Lea, Paul Harbsmeier (interim), and Mills-Anderson have served in the position since the center opened in July 2017.
