On July 21, Lexxus Whitaker and her four children took one of the final steps toward their American Dream when their new Habitat for Humanity Home located in Portland was dedicated in front of a large crowd of family, friends and co-workers.
Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County will provide Whitaker with an affordable zero percent mortgage for the new home.
Whitaker, who celebrated her five-year employment anniversary with Kroger-Hendersonville earlier this year, began the journey of Habitat Home ownership two years ago with the determination to build a better life for her children.
“I just want to thank everyone, from the bottom of all of our hearts for everything that has been done for us. From the building, the buying, …for everything, we appreciate it all,” she said to those in attendance.
