Leaders of the Mechatronics program at Volunteer State Community College received confirmation today that full accreditation was awarded for the program for the next two years.

Chair of the Mechatronics program, Tim Dean received notification recently while attending the meeting held at The Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) Conference taking place in Louisville, Kentucky. ATMAE is the accrediting body for the program.

During the meeting, findings from Vol State’s initial site visit from this past April were presented along with the accreditation announcement.

Upon hearing the news, Dean shared, “Accreditation by ATMAE is a recognition of the quality of the Mechatronics Technology program at Vol State. ATMAE accreditation requires not only adherence to academic standards but also a commitment to continuous improvement. We are thrilled that all our students, graduates, and employers have this assurance of quality.”

Dean of Math and Science for Vol State, Shane Talbott stated, “We are delighted to have this initial accreditation to ensure the academic rigor and hands-on learning will continue seamlessly for our students to be job ready upon graduation.”

Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field of study that focuses on the integration of electrical and mechanical systems and includes robotics, automation, and industrial controls. Volunteer State Community College offers the program at the Gallatin and Cookeville campus locations.
