The Sumner County Fair returns with carnival rides, beauty pageants, agriculture exhibits and more next week.
The 74th annual event will take place July 8-13 at the Sumner County Fairgrounds located at 222 Fairgrounds Rd. in Gallatin. Gates open each night at 5 p.m. and admission is $5 daily.
“This is as good as any of the fairs around,” Sumner County Fair Association President Tommy Womack said. “This brings people from all over the county and sometimes different counties. It’s just a tradition in Sumner County.”
In addition to a variety of carnival rides and food vendors, the fair will also include a car show and concert.
Organizers estimate as many as 12,000 people will attend the fair throughout the week.
The final registration opportunity for any beauty pageant contestant will be Sunday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Entry fees range from $5 to $25 depending on the contest.
