The Portland Chamber of Commerce won the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) Event Excellence Award for the third year in a row at the annual convention held in late August in Knoxville.

Chambers enter events their organizations held to be evaluated by outside judges. Entries must include marketing and promotional materials, event attendance, and comments from participants.

The chambers must explain the community response and any positive effects the event had on the community. The budget must be submitted with comments as to whether the event met the budget or exceeded the budget. Photographs were required.

The local chamber submitted the Annual Farm to Table Dinner as an event which brings the community together and recognizes the importance of agriculture to our economy.

The event has also drawn the attention of other communities who are thinking possibly of organizing a farm to table dinner in their area.

Previously, the chamber received the Event Excellence Award for the Back-to-School Bash and the Strawberry Festival. This year’s award was a three-peat for the Portland chamber.

TCCE Representative Suzie Lusk said, “The Portland Chamber has submitted for the past three years a unique and community centered event that was recognized by a panel of chamber professionals outside of Tennessee. This event category is one of the most competitive of awards generally.”

TCCE is a group of Chambers of Commerce from across the State of Tennessee.
