Days Gone By Museum will be featured in a new State of Tennessee tourism video.
Plan A Films from Johnson City were shooting footage to be used in new Tennessee commercials and digital videos that the State of Tennessee Department of Tourist Development will release next spring.
The commercials and digital videos will be used to market Tennessee outside of the state and internationally. Several employees of the state tourism department were at the filming.
The footage will be used to carry on the campaign titled “The Sound Track of America - Made in Tennessee” theme. The brand originally was music and the new campaign drew its inspiration from that theme.
Days Gone By Museum is being used to incorporate history into the Tennessee brand.
Assistant Commissioner of Marketing Brian Wagner said, “History is part of our experience and this place is a good example of ways to promote Tennessee through history.”
According to Wagner, tourism is the second largest industry in the state. Last year it generated an economic impact of over $20 billion including $1.8 billion from state and local taxes. Every Tennessean benefits from tourism by paying less property taxes and not having a state income tax, he said. Wagner added that Tennessee residents save over $700 annually in taxes from the benefit of tourism.
