Adult and Family Programming

Tuesday, Oct. 11 – Career Solutions Presentation – sponsored by Goodwill.

1 p.m. Are you looking for employment? Do you need help with your resume? Goodwill Career Solutions provides FREE computer, job readiness, online job search and resume classes. They partner with employers to help people find jobs in their community. They network with HR departments and staffing agencies to place thousands of people and provide FREE Forklift, MOS Computer, Call Center, Administrative Assistant, Security, Health Care training and programs plus many more. Goodwill believes that paid, productive work is integral to the positive self-esteem of individuals and to the success of the communities in which they live. Please come and check out all that they have to offer.

Friday, Oct. 14 – Lucky Library Bingo

1 p.m. We will begin playing at 1:00 in the community room. No cash prizes but we give away food, books, gift cards and more!

Saturday, Oct. 15 – Tea Time at the Library

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a social event, as the taking and offering of tea signifies friendship and a chance to visit with old friends and make new ones. This program requires no invitation or reservation. Simply bring a batch of your favorite sweet or savory to share and “drop in” for tea. We will take care of everything else.

Thursday, Oct. 20 – Book Club

11:30 a.m. Please join us if you love to read. Join us for some fun! We will be reading “After You” by JoJo Moyes. Call the library to reserve your copy.

Friday, Oct. 21 – Crochet Club

1 to 2:30 p.m. Crochet Club – the place where, with a crochet hook and a single skein of yarn, both beginners and masters of the craft gather together for a wonderful afternoon of creativity on the third Friday of each month. Club members are currently working on an Heirloom Afghan project designed for both beginners and experienced crocheters to master the craft one stitch and one square at a time. Club members who have begun their Heritage Afghan are encouraged to bring the squares they have finished. Club members who have not begun the project and those attending for the first time will need to bring one skein of yarn and a size H Crochet hook; the pattern book will be provided by the club. Tuesday, Oct. 25 – Dr. Carole Bucy Presents Researching World War II Soldiers

4 p.m Dr. Carole Bucy, History Professor at Volunteer State Community College and Davidson County Historian, will discuss researching World War II Soldiers. A native of Texas, Dr. Bucy is an advocate for the awareness and preservation of our local and state history. A well-known speaker across Middle Tennessee on a variety of historical subjects, she has conducted numerous workshops for Tennessee teachers in an effort to help them understand how local history and Tennessee history fit into the narrative of American history.

Wednesday, Oct. 26 – Halloween Storytelling for the Family

4 to 5:30 p.m. Please join us for a Halloween storytelling for the entire family. Chilling and thrilling, but not nightmare instilling stories to get you in the spirit of Halloween. Debbie Caldwell, a retired teacher and librarian, will be presenting the stories for us. As a storyteller, she has presented all around Sumner and Davidson counties and will be presenting among other stories one that has proven to hold you right up to the final “gotcha” moment!

Friday, Oct. 28 – Lucky Library Bingo

Saturday, Oct. 29 – Halloween Movie Day

10:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. We will feature six short family-friendly Halloween Movies:

Show times are 10:15, 10:45, 11:10, 11:40, 12:05 and 12:30. Popcorn and drinks will be served. Please call the library for the movie names at (615) 325-2279.

Young Adult Activities (6th through 12th graders)

Activities are from 4 to 5 p.m. unless noted. For most activities,

no registration is required. Arrive on time since the supplies are limited! Doors open 10 minutes before the program starts. Call Dorothy or Megan at (615) 325-2279 with questions.

Thursday, Oct. 13 – Movie: Rated PG-13

4 to 5 p.m. Get in the Halloween spirit by joining us for a showing of a Halloween movie. Popcorn and drinks will be served. The movie rating is PG-13. Please call the library for the movie title.

Thursday Oct. 20 – Scaryoke

4 to 5 p.m. Sing along to your favorite frightful Halloween songs.

Thursday, Oct. 27 – A Totally Tubular 80’s Halloween Party

4 to 5:30 p.m. Enjoy an evening of refreshments, entertainment, and activities right before Halloween. Feel free to come dressed up in costume.

Every Thursday in October ABC Club

10:30 a.m. ABC club is a program for ages three to five that teaches writing and recognition of letters, numbers, and shapes. This preschool program is led by Shana Blankenship. Please join us!

3:30 p.m. Stories, books, facts and nutrition of pumpkins. Games involving pumpkins.

Wednesday, Oct. 26 – Candy!

3:30 p.m. It’s just not a sweet treat. History, facts and experiments.
