Vehicle hits restaurant; damage was minimal

A motorist accidently hit the front of Hibachi Sushi Buffet recently while attempting to parallel park. BONNIE FUSSELL

On Saturday, Aug. 7, a Buick Rene, large utility vehicle, driven by Lois B. Sons, 77, hit one of the front sections of the Hibachi Sushi Buffet at W. Knight Street at approximately 6:30 p.m.

PTL Victoria Eye stated on the police report the driver said she was parallel parking in the front of the restaurant and accidentally hit the brakes causing her to hit the building.

PTL Eye stated in the report that there is no parallel parking in front of the business, which was clearly marked with diagonal yellow lines in front of the entire business complex.

No one was injured in the accident; but an employee said she had been working in the area at the time of the accident. The property damage was estimated to be over $400.
