It's your turn now Portland. The Main Street Media of TN Sumner County Game of the Week invades the purple and white for their week 7 tilt against bitter rival, White House.
The Panthers come in back-to-back winners over the Blue Devils, but 2017 has been a different season for Jeff Porter's crew. The Blue Devils were set to host the Panthers this year after traveling to Portland last season, but region draw has the prideful blue back in P-town for another rendition of this great rivalry.
White House (5-0) comes in very confident. The offense has scored more than 35 points in four of its five wins, and are giving up just nine points per game on defense.
Offensively, you will classify White House as high-powered. A team that can truly be two-dimensional, I expect Jeff Porter's crew to give Portland fits Friday night. Playmakers are aplenty for White House, including Seth Bumbalough and Preston Sharber, to name a few. These players can reach pay dirt and will be on display for big plays at Memorial Field.
The White House defense has been lights out as well. The Blue Devils haven't played the best competition yet, but anytime you can hold a Springfield team to just 14 points, you're doing something right.
This football game has been described as one where the only way Portland wins is if they outscore White House, because I don't believe they can stop them. Things have not been pretty for the Panthers on that side of the football, so there could be some real issues Friday night for the Panthers.
It's no secret that in order for the Panthers to win this football game they must take care of the key areas. First, no turnovers. This White House football team is good enough as is, they don't need any extra help.
Secondly, stay in front of the chains. I cannot emphasize enough how important this is to the success of your team Friday night. It's already a long shot at the Panthers winning, you don't want to make it any longer by starring at third-and-22 all night long. Third, make plays when presented the opportunity. Yes, the Blue Devils are 5-0 but they are not invincible.
Opportunities will present itself and it's up to the Panthers on whether or not they will take advantage of those plays.
In my opinion, the only thing the Panthers have going for them this week is that the team is at home. Guess fans don't have to travel far to see them lose.
