Sumner County's new $2.7 million outdoor pool complex at the Civic Center in Gallatin is now open and making waves.
The facility, which held its grand opening Saturday, features a zero-foot entry pool that increase in depth to about 5 feet, three water slides, a splash pad and other splash equipment.
"We have people coming from Kentucky and all over middle Tennessee to swim," Parks and Recreation Director David Brown said. "It's the only one of its kind in the area and we're excited to have it open."
In addition to private pool party bookings, a designated area for birthday parties will also be available to rent. There is no membership or residency requirement to use the pool.
The project is the first expansion of the Civic Center since it opened in March 1994. The pool is part of the Tommy Garrott Aquatics Facility.
