Bipin Patel held a grand opening and ribbon cutting for his new business Kirby Stop on Friday, June 17.

Patel made a $2.8 million investment in the gas station and market, which is located at the corner of Kirby Drive and Broadway.

The new owner said he had his eye on the property for some time and thought it would be a good location for a gas station because of the factories, warehouses, and businesses nearby.

Kirby Stop will have 24/7 food services, including a kitchen that will never close. From midnight until 10 a.m. breakfast foods will be on the menu. During the day, the menu will have chicken, Godfather's Pizza and a collection of fresh sandwiches and salads.

Kirby Stop employs seven full-time employees and one part-time employee.

In an effort to keep prices low, Kirby Stop will have unbranded gas.

Patel said, "There is a better market. We can get a better price."

He has also begun plans for another gas station at the new interchange being built on I-65 at 31-W. This interchange will be the first exit into Tennessee.

Formerly from Knoxville, Patel owns a Quality Inn in Coopertown near I-24.and another gas station on Trinity One in Nashville.
