City passes 2017-18 budget

The City of Portland 2017-2018 Municipal Budget was passed with no property tax increase at the June 26 meeting of the City of Portland Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

Section 1 of the budget is an estimation of the anticipated revenues of the municipality from all sources. These are: General Funds - $8,725,079; Solid Waste Fund --$1,373,085; Drug Fund - $10,500; Airport Fund - $1,361,350; Storm Water Fund - $745,650; Impact Fee Fund - $103,000, and Revolving Loan Fund - $1,500.

Section 2 of the budget is the amount appropriated from the anticipated revenues and unexpended and unencumbered funds. These appropriation are: General Funds - $8,924,944; Solid Waste - $1,373,085; Drug Fund - $1,000; Airport Fund - $1,361,350; Storm Water Fund - $745,650; Impact Fee Fund - $ 0 ; and Revolving Loan Fund - $ 0.

Section 3 of the budget is an estimation of the balances/deficits at the end of the current fiscal year. These estimations are as follows: General Fund - $2,566,439; Solid Waste - $128,349; Drug Fund - $16,760; Storm Water - $30,000; Airport Fund - $40,640; Impact Fee Fund - $63,4120, and Revolving Loan Fund - $555,675.

No one spoke at the public hearing regarding the budget. The vote by the council was unanimous. Aldermen Jody McDowell and David Andrews were absent from the meeting.
